Dr Michael Mosley, who sadly died last year, was one of the great communicators about science and medicine. His radio shows and podcasts taught millions of us about things we could do to improve our health. He was a strong advocate for things like intermittent fasting, writing several books on the subject. This book is somewhat different. The focus here is on very rapid weight loss — something which many doctors reject, preferring to encourage slow and steady. But Mosley backs up his arguments with evidence. I know from my own experience and that of others that rapid weight loss in a diet, any diet, can encourage compliance and persistence. But the diet Mosley advocates — a very low calorie diet — may be difficult for most people to follow.
