Another handy IM is Miranda. It is a SourceForge project and has many plugins. Complete .. and freeware.

I understand that Yahoo have now altered their IM protocol so that Trillian can't access it properly. Can't find the story now, but ZDnet.co.uk were carrying it earlier today.
