Amnesty International’s UK Section has just announced the results of the elections to its Board.\u00a0 I was not elected.<\/p>\n
Of the nearly 250,000 Amnesty supporters who were eligible to vote, only 8,055 bothered to do. \nIn the voting for first place preferences, I polled 600 votes — placing me fifth out of the ten candidates. <\/strong> However, I polled very few second and third place votes, and was the fourth candidate eliminated, having achieved a total of 710 votes.\u00a0 To have avoided elimination at that stage, I’d have needed about 23 more votes.<\/p>\n
