And maybe that&#8217;s a good thing, because it&#8217;s a better, tighter book.  Cross is becoming an increasingly interesting character as the series moves along, not just a super-human who can easily catch the bad guys, but also as a man with vulnerabilities and weaknesses.  And you just gotta love his side-kick, John Sampson, with his ever-present cool sunglasses.
